Idea: bridge platform for palm resting + easier playing on the lower strings

@Troy, where i always struggle with, is picking on the lower strings because of the way i want to rest the palm on the bridge.
Andy Woods mentioned this in one the vids, that he hates it that when going to the lower strings the palm would leave it’s resting position and falls backwards on the body which creates a different angel towards the strings.

If you would put an extra piece of wood on that spot where the palm would go backwards the problem would be solved.
I for now tried it with holding my smartphone on that spot and rest my palm on it, and it feels great!

What do you think Troy?

This is what i mean.
My smartphone is a bit to thick and much too lage of course, but you’ll get the idea. It wil give you a constant same hight towards the strings.
You of course would only need a small piece of wood extending the bridge a bit at the exact same height.

Sorry for some noises in te background, that is my little boy

I have the same exact “problem”, that’s an interesting idea but I also wonder if it would get in the way of strumming.

@qwertygitarr No, even with the big phone i can strum without any problems.

I think it’s a great idea! Does the platform have to be that large? Wouldn’t it be enough if it was just above the bridge?

I def think somebody should build a guitar like that!

Ever tried a tele-style guitar? They have this sort of box around the bridge which feels more or less like having a string below the low E and One above the high E

Yes, i wrote that it would be enough if it is a little piece of wood just extending the bridge. I just used my phone to check if it worked. I am going to cut a little piece of wood and just put it on the guitar with some double sided sticking tape, it feels good and works a will fix it with wood glue and paint it in the color of the guitar

That is just a very little piece and feels uncomfortable because is it is just a thin piece of metal. It would have to be bigger and have a nice flat feel.
