Just in case you have not seen this, please check out Jimi playing acoustic guitar. The first part of the video focuses a lot on Jimi’s left hand (fairly obviously), so you’ll get nice close up of his picking. He moves up and down (left & right?) along the string all the time to attack each note just right. Beautiful.

This, or at least part of this, ended up on the “Jimi: Blues” compilation, which despite Alan Douglas’s involvement is actually excellent, and something I’d highly recommend checking out. His instrumental take of "Born Under a Bad Sign that follows immediately after this is probably where I’ve learned more about modern electric blues than any other solo I can think of.
