Julian Lage Etude Transcription (not mine) - down, down, up

Glad I stumbled upon this old soundslice - not my transcription, but it looks good. This was a popular video/etude when Lage first posted it and it’s really interesting and damn tricky to play.

The speed doesn’t feel like shredding of course but the complexity of the string jumps with the clarity of pick attack are a different kind of challenge.

Looks like there’s a lot of down, down, up. Would be interesting to go through and try to notate every pick stroke.

for me being able to play something like cleanly that would be far more satisfying than being able to play a fast shreddy run or pattern…

Hey Jake,
This video has a clear view of his right hand for portions of the performance. I’m sure you could deduce the other stuff. DDU and alternate depending on how the chord sits on the fretboard.
