This guy is amazing, check this out! How applicable do you think this playing style would be to electric guitar?
TLDR: Find awesome player. Post awesome player. Encourage discussion. See how easy that was?

Probably not very, but it would be awesome to see what he might do if he tried!
How similar is this to Matteo Mancuso?
In the future guitarists will likely have to be strong with a plectrum and their fingers, choosing whatever is appropriate for their music. This will be particularly important for studio musicians, I assume?
This looks and sounds like rest stroke technique, like flamenco. Matteo gets the smooth sound of free stroke. They don’t sound much alike, and neither sounds like plectrum playing – which is just one of the many arguments against trying to pit one technique against another.
The use of plectrums has, apparently, been going on for thousands of years, so musicians have already been doing this (choosing what is appropriate). I just can’t see palm-muted high speed death metal sort of stuff happening with fingers, or a million other situations.
That said, Karai here is great… but PICKS RULE!
The pure aggression in his scale runs is really something. Love it.
Could a flamenco artist grab an electric guitar if their fingernails where short enough and use their fingertips and play it almost as usual? (I am sure that the steel strings are very destructive on fingernails.)
Yeah, a pick is a very important tool for a lot of work. But I think the future is clear, pick + fingers. (Indeed, one can argue that it’s the present, with all of these artists doing “hybrid picking.”)
One of the most important CtC rules (at least in my mind) is to avoid being dogmatic and use the easiest tool to get a great tone. What is it that the great artists say, “if it sounds good, it is good?”
Oh wow, he sounds great! Total monster with those fingers which is completely cool. If I could do it, I would use it for evil, I know it…
Surely he could play an electric…probably lighten up his touch and use acrylic nails if he had to…Mancuso essentially does the same.
