Looking for suggested steps after doing tremolo picking

Hi!

I have spent some time now experimenting with different motions doing tremolo (and some one string licks) to find which one is the most comfortable for me.

Now I’m looking for some advice how to proceed expanding the tremolo picking to stuff where multiple strings are in use, with different number of notes on different strings,… I tried to do some 2 notes per string stuff, but it feels like a pretty big skill gap from tremolo picking, so I am looking for advice on how to gradually progress my knowledge and if there are any suggestions on the steps to take before going into practising the 2 notes per string stuff? I realize I must be changing something when trying the 2 notes per strings, but since I read that people mentioned that 2 notes per string is actually difficult, should I try something else first, which would make 2 notes per string easier down the line?

Best Regards!

Switching is easiest for any even number of notes per string. So perhaps (I don’t know) you’d want to try four notes, four notes, four notes, four notes, then on the new string, four notes, … I think it might also be useful to really emphasize the rhythm.

But somebody else here more competent than me will advise you before long, I’m sure. However, until then, something to do!

If you have a good tremolo going, I believe the next step is to work on single string licks, so that you can synchronize your left hand with your newfound right-hand speed
