Malmsteen progrock track?

I have this buddy I want to introduce to Malmsteen’s catalogue, he’s a fan or Rush, DT etc… prog rock.

Just wondering if there are any tracks I could recommend in that vain from Malmsteen. I’m blinded by my own bias, thanks :beers:

That’s tricky. Maybe one of the albums with vocals like Marching Out or Trilogy, but they’re very metal obviously. Just there are some softer tones on some tracks.

For me, I’ve introduced a couple of people to YJM and you can’t go wrong with Rising Force. The guitar playing on the first 2 tracks alone should astound and interest anyone.

Start with the instrumentals maybe, if he’s into prog…Icarus Dream Suite, Trilogy Op.5, Marching Out, Far Beyond the Sun, Perpetual etc.

Oddly enough I did these exact recommendations! Shared the alcatrazz live solo medley and evil eye.
Will add leviathan and Perpetual on Scott’s recommendation.

Thanks guys, such savagery with malmsteen; sometimes it’s a hard sell!

Just facepalming after realising that final arpeggio is the standard minor 5 string shape not the one in the tab. Doh! Cesario to the rescue again. :smiley:
