Martin Miller Swiping

When Martin starts playing the crosspicking arpeggios at 38:40 it looks like he is sometimes swiping on the B string to get back to the G but it is not consistent. Is he hitting a note there that I am missing and did anyone else see this?

There were a few takes that looked this way on the middle strings, less so on the top strings. If there is, and I’d have to step through this more closely, it is not particularly systematic, i.e. it’s not happening all the time and if it does, it’s so slight as to be sonically negligible.

I would put this in a different category than something like what Batio does, because Mike’s technique is built on this happening, pretty consistently, for certain types of phrases. What you’re seeing here in Martin’s case is more like what you’ll see, for example, in Albert Lee’s playing, where there is occasional string contact but the technique also appears to work without it.
