My solo for the Kiesel Solo Contest

I decided to join in on the Kiesel Solo Contest. I don’t expect to win anything, but it’s always fun to participate in these things. Hope you like it!

What a guitar! Also, do you wear that band on your right forearm for guitar reasons? I’ve been thinking of doing something like that.

My guess is that he wears that to stop the arm from sticking to the guitar. I use one which I made from cutting the end off an old sock. Of course, it’s only an issue when the weather is warm enough…

I hadn’t thought of that. My idea was to add some padding so that the edge of the body doesn’t put as much pressure on the ulnar nerve.

Nice, everything is very modern and tasteful! Amazing stuff!

Thank you very much!

HAha, yes, it’s beautiful!

The armband is something I wear due to an issue in my right arm, I have a sort of dull pain that probably comes from many years of applying pressure to that point with the guitar body and then doing movements at the same time. Guitars with sharp edges, like a telecaster is the worst for this. I also had one gig where it seemed to get triggered, where I was playing bass with a pick, and it was an unusual movement for me that caused some tension to build up throughout rehearsals and then the gig itself over a few days.

Sometimes it gets triggered by daily life stuff as well, such as opening a heavy drawer, slicing cheese, resting my arm on a chair, etc.

For now, this armband has been the most effective solution to make it better and avoid the pain. I’m hoping to reach some more permanent solutions soon, but it’s tough.

Actually, I think I would prefer to have a little bit of that stickiness back!

I’ll copy what I wrote previously about why I use the armband:

"The armband is something I wear due to an issue in my right arm, I have a sort of dull pain that probably comes from many years of applying pressure to that point with the guitar body and then doing movements at the same time. Guitars with sharp edges, like a telecaster is the worst for this. I would prefer to not have to wear it, because it feels like the arm being in direct contact with the guitar body gives a little more stability. The armband removes friction, so it has a bit more of a floaty feeling. It also isn’t the perfect size, so it can sometimes come a bit loose and I need to adjust…

Knew it! I am dealing with something similar at the moment, due to a different cause but applying pressure to that point would make it worse. FYI a Charvel Dinky feels almost like you are massaging that spot (and one made of ash is cool to the touch, which is soothing). You might check them out.

Actually, I’ve had some luck playing a Jackson Kelly wihout the armband, as I can kind of rest the arm in a different way on that body shape. So from now on I’ll be rocking up to jazz gigs with a Kelly for ergonomic purposes, I guess.  :joy:

I think maybe the guitar in this video is a dinky? It’s called DK24… Isn’t that the dinky model basically? I do generally feel good as long as I get the arm contour as well as use the armband, but it would be nice to not have to rely on it in the future.
