I’ve been using an application called Neck Diagrams https://www.neckdiagrams.com/. It’s especially helpful when you want to associate scales with chord changes. For example, I built this image for Wayne Shorter’s Footprints:
I was particularly excited about this diagram approach having bought Just for the Curious by Alan Holdsworth:
which uses a similar diagramming approach.
Neck Diagrams also lets you select scales by name and key:
You can also label the neck with notes or intervals and toggle back and forth.
Anyway, if you’re a scale head like me check out Neck Diagrams and see if it helps you learn and assimilate this complicated domain.
BTW, I don’t have any commercial or other relationship with Neck Diagrams.
