Dunlop has introduced nylon Flow picks, supposedly available in April 2025. The sizes seem to be 1.25, 1.14, 1.0, 0.88, .73, and 0.60mm. I’ll order some when I see them available, it will be fun to try them.

Honestly, I’m not holding my breath for them. After trying their other flow types like the delrin tortex, the gloss, and kind of thoroughly hating the jazz xl nylons which I would assume might be similar, I have come to the conclusion that their regular matte ultex ones can’t really be beaten. At least for me that is.
I might give these a go for fun, but I’m sold on the “regular” flow material (ultex?) for recording / tone.
Tortex fanboy here (all other materials seem to give too much chirp for my liking), but I’ll defo order some!
I like the John Petrucci flow quite a bit.
They do offer the Flow shape in tortex. I’m back on the thinner ultex ones now, but I tried those for a while and I’ll still grab one every once in a while.
Does it make sense to strum folk chords on 2.0mm Ultex? I’m not sure.

I have a bunch of those still that I just can gel with. I absolutely can not stand the way tortex delrin feels. That was supposed to be its selling point, but I hate it, just like I hate the feel of chalk on my hands or using a finger to erase something off of a chalk board for that matter. It’s not as makes me shudder when I touch it.
It’s not as bad when it rubs to a semigloss, but it takes mileage to get there which I don’t have the staying power for. I also notice that although the shape is similar, the bevels aren’t quite the same as the ultex ones, and the attack can be really muted, especially for the heavier ones. It might just be me, but I don’t notice the chirp of ultex.
I’m interested to try them, I definitely see a place for them.
The standard 0.60mm Dunlop nylon is my favourite pick for strumming, but I don’t like the 351 size/shape or the amount of flex for picking.
The EJ Jazz III (also nylon) is my preferred pick for most of my picking techniques, but I don’t like strumming with it.
I’ve tried to find a pick which is a reasonable compromise. The Flow and Jazz III XL in green tortex are the best compromises I’ve found so far, but I don’t love them.
