One day remains picking

Have been searching the forum for signs of others attempting the alter bridge song one day remains. It’s got a killer riff in it, at a pretty quick pace - for me anyhow… Does anyone have any approaches for this song particularly? I think the whole thing is alternate picked, but wondered if anyone does this with economy picking, for example.

Also can really feel my arm tensing up after a few rounds of the main riff. So any thoughts on maintaining rapid picking would be welcome.

Hey @JonnyP71, sorry for not noticing this earlier!

Are you talking about the riff that Andy James demonstrates at around 2:20? To me it seems that the right hand pattern is the same as Paul Gilbert’s “Technical Difficulties” intro riff. We have a couple of threads on this that I hope will be helpful:

And of course feel free to post a video of you playing this riff in the technique critique section, to get advice from the community! Filming instructions attached
