Pentatonic fingering

Do you use different fingerings for different pentatonic positions?
Especially in 3rd and 4th box position. I find these challenging when speed picking.
Its funny to have this question after 18 years of playing:) But i recently started working on speed picking and noticed this issue.

Would it be wise to use only index and ring finger for all positions for faster playing?

I believe most people find that 1-3 fingerings work best, however I’m an exception. I use “correct” position fingerings 1-4,1-3, even 2-4. Been doing so for many years and they work fine for me.

So the common sense for shredders is using 1-3 fingers for all positions?

I think it depends on the patterns/licks you want to play! Do you have any examples in mind or were you thinking about the scale played up and down?

Right now im practicing running in boxes up and down and shifting boxes without stopping.

Then I think any fingering that you find comfortable will work! Personally I prefer the one finger per fret approach.
