Pick Holding observation

I’ve been practicing USX for a little while and I’ve found that I can’t choke up on the pick as much as I would like. Doing so forces me to flatten and hold my fingers in a painful way as I play. By backing off I’ve found that I can play and my fingers can keep their natural curve. Now I just have to deal with the feeling that my pick is constantly on the edge of flying out of my hand.

Should I just get a bigger pick (I use jazz iii’s) or switch from the trigger style grip to something else?

Do you have any pictures or videos of the way you hold the pick?

I think I’m mostly USX with Jazz III style picks, and I don’t feel like it’s about to fly out.

I use these on electric.

And these on my classical guitar. When I use it, it brings back the feeling of when I was little and we had those really thick pencils. LOL
