Pick Slanting Primer: Dart Thrower Motion Tutorials?

Hey everyone,
I am currently working through the Pick Slanting Primer and reached the Picking Motion Tutorials now!

I am a bit confused however, because there are only tutorials on “reverse dart thrower” and “wrist forearm motion” but no tutorials on “darth thrower motion” even though in Motion Mechanis > wrist motions, there was an elaborate introduction to dart thrower movements.

Because I think the dart thrower resembles the most what I am currently doing, I was looking forward to learning more about it. Why are there no tutorials on it?

So far I love the course. Thank you guys for sharing your knowledge!
Best regards,
Yukaza :)))

It’s always best to film a short video just to be sure you’re making the motion you think you are. Also, since you have a full subscription you can get personalized feedback from Troy and/or his awesome instructor team. There’s a Technique Critique section in your dashboard that will walk you through the process.

I can only guess but among elite players, we don’t see much dart thrower. Troy’s goal is to help as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Since more people gravitate towards RDT (and it’s pretty easy to do even if you’ve never tried it) it’s just a bigger net.

Dart Thrower motions we’ve seen:

Shawn Lane
Neal Schon
John Taylor (some of his motions, he has a few)
Bill Hall (2nps)
Preston Black
Phil X

That’s all I could think of. I could go on and on and on if I made a list of RDT players.

Does your motion look like any of those guys? Can you play 2nps starting on a downstroke and easily make the string changes after upstroke? Then yes, you’re possibly a Dart Thrower player. Still, there are other ways to do this that are not Dart Thrower and that’s why a video is helpful. Bug again, you’ve got a full subscription, I’d go straight to the pros for advice and make a Technique Critique on the main site.

Good luck, and welcome to the community!

You’re right! We don’t have explicit tutorials for dart-thrower yet - we’ve mainly been handling these cases manually as they come up, in Technique Critique, until we can settle on exactly what we want to say in a lesson format. In the mean time, we do have a lesson which is more of an overview, and not so much a tutorial, but this will give you a sense of what these techniques look like and what motions you can create with them:

If you need help with your DT technique, I recommend making a critique on your dashboard - we’re happy to help.
