Picking looks.Aesthetics of picking

I really think there is something to looking good and mechanical efficiency, but I’m not sure what.

The pure aesthetic aspect is all subjective, and I think it’s way better to actually be able to play the notes.

I do think some people’s picking style just look cooler. I don’t think there’s any correlation between looks and effectiveness (I actually think that’s a big trap a lot of us fall into), but damn if some players don’t make it look easy.

Michael Romeo is one of my favorite examples of this:

His picking hand (some combination of finger/thumb and wrist) looks so relaxed and effortless. I saw his Guitar Chapter video back in the day, and I spent about a year trying to emulate his style before giving up and going back to my standard way of playing.
