Picking with the flat/rounded pick corners?

Jazz and (aspiring) fusion player here.
I have been playing with the rounded corner of both Jazz III tortex and fender 351s for most of my recent playing/shedding life, maybe the past 3 years. I am now digging into Cracking the code and 80% committed to down-slant / Upward escape. Does anyone have any tips / hard lessons learned from playing this way and with a pretty clear downward slant (I am also trying to get into rest-strokes on fast lines a la Benson) with the flatter corners of these types of picks? I typically play .73 give or take ~.1 and as expected with the rounded tips don’t do much edge picking.

I am worried I am painting myself into a corner with this single escape / slanted pick approach, since there is simply not enough of the rounded pick-tip protruding from my grip to efficiently pick at tempo. Would love folks’ opinions who have tried this!!

You will be fine, I switched to the rounded edge a while back.

At first I thought the 1.5 delrin purples that malmsteen’s picks are based on was too blunt on the point side, but I adapted and even moved to the rounded point eventually for the tone, eventually I settled to love it I started to despise the pointy end. Eventually I got into blue chip picks and treat them like dear family members, I’m now on the TAD 3R 60, I have a few of the teardrops that started me on them. The 3R I hear is the preferred choice of bluegrass pickers. I have to say they show now wear and if they do they don’t loose their smooth shaped edge in any way, I’ve been on this one pick for a year or more and I play hard everyday, as good as new.

You can totally rip on the blunt side, with better tone might I add. Only tip would be to raise your action a bit if it’s too close. All the best.

Just my 2 cents.
