Ok, so, let’s do a tldr version of this.
I used to have a fair amount of technique under my belt, but had hand surgery 7 years ago and didn’t play again until 2 years ago due to having limited mobility in my right hand. The past 2 years have mostly been spent trying to get some semblance of playing ability back, and I’m setting myself a target to update this post monthly with the same solo at (hopefully) ever increasing speeds and accuracy. I wrote this solo for this exercise because it covers every single motion I can think of in terms of alternate picking.
This is my current best “clean” rendition of the solo. 118bpm. Even though speed and picking is more than just maximum attack (complexity of lines etc), I’ll translate into CtC standards 16th triplets at 118bpm is the same as 16th notes at 177bpm, so that’s my limit.
Will update in 1 month with a new version, let me know any thoughts, criticisms, or suggestions, especially on how to get faster with it. I would love, in time, to push this to 150bpm, which would be the same as 220bpm 16th notes.
Cheers, and tia!
