I have watched the Primer and Synchronicity and of course most of the other interviews but have some questions regarding speed and sync.
I want to preface this by saying I plan on submitting a TC very soon but just not have found the time with my work schedule, but will soon!
Even after watching the Synchronicity seminar as well as Troy’s Warp 3 video I am still confused how to actually practice my technique.
From what I understand one cannot practice slow since your technique at a slow speed is usually very different (string hoppy) and once you hit a certain speed your intended technique takes over. I get that. I can tremolo single notes easily using either a USX or DSX wrist motion 16ths at 190-200 bpm. When I play fast for instance with DiMeola 6s on a single string I find sync issues. It seems like the minute I get to a speed where USX legitimately takes over, its a complete mess. How long are you supposed to slog away with major sync issues before it will finally sync, if at all?
I have been working on legato exercises just like in Synchronicity and have been finding some are easy and some are more difficult of course. I’m still working on the inventory and see where my problems lie, but I know for sure there are sequences where my legato is not 100% even, and I am aware of this, particular on descending patterns.
I know that Troy has said there is no recommendation on an actual tempo because everyone is different as are motions and licks etc. At what point in practice will the sync issue get better when trying to play fast enough to be using the correct USX/DSX technique? Is there a point where you stop because it is just so sloppy and the hands aren’t syncing up? Where do you go from there?
Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from someone!
You’ll want to see how your 65- and 49-note chunks are (Synchronicity). Is picking consistent with correct number of strokes? How does it look when you try 2bars +1 of dimeola 6s or even 1bar +1? This is what I am working on. Feel free to see my open TC for insights from Tommo.
I will test those chunks you are talking of and report back.
I’m pretty new to the site, would you have time to link your TC directly? I can’t seem to locate it

I messaged you a link to my TC. All public TCs are under the TC directory on your dashboard
