Primary Motion Indecision

Hey everybody!

First-time poster, here. I’ve been following CtC for about 6 years now and always assumed I was a DSX dominant player but never doubled down on it or spent too much focused time developing it besides ascending sixes (especially since so many licks and players I seemed to love were USX oriented).

That said, about a year ago I noticed I had a decently smooth tremolo with a USX flexed gypsy/semi-EVH form and have been noodling with different approaches to starting with speed ever since.

Now I’m at a place where I want to intentionally develop a primary technique, but I’m not sure which one to start with.

Below are two clips of the two forms that feel the smoothest to me. I’d love any feedback on which one seems more efficient and is worth focusing on developing more. To me the DSX seems more efficient, and the USX seems to move in more of a curved trajectory and perhaps catch the string a little more (from the USX hand position I can sometimes pull out some DSX movement, too)?

Either way, I’d love any feedback, direction, and tips to improve either motion. Thanks!

I’d go with whichever feels smoothest, which seems to be your DSX as I read it. That’s a bonus, since the sentiment around these here parts seems to be that you can access a DBX motion from that hand position.
