Realistic practice times

I generally have more than one thing
I’m working on.

Presently I have 8

Volcano 4s
Sweep 3nps pent
Working man blues rhythm
Lick to go with above
Joe stump book
Connect n play pentatonics
Run ascending n descending 6s on
All string sets
Single string work

I know it sounds like allot but I need it that way.

I usually practice about 4 hrs a night
And a little during the day.

I play each of these things for a few minutes then switch

I just keep cyclying through them all night.

Mathematically if I was giving each equal time it would amount to about 30 min ea.

I do see results but Im wondering if
I should narrow the focus for more gains. Im just afraid Ill get bored.
Which is a legit consideration.

Here is the actual question I guess.
If you wanted to learn the volcano 4s
What is the minimum time per day you would focus on it?

Actually studies have shown (see the interview with Noa Kageyama for more about this) that cycling between things, like you do, is optimal. It forces you to remember and re-adjust hand position etc from scratch. Intuitively this requires more effort which–I’m guessing–is what makes you learn faster.

So if you enjoy this, and you’re seeing gains, then I wouldn’t change a thing!

Thank you, I meant to watch the rest of those interviews but spaced

My internet connection is horrible so even on the lowest quality I have to watch on half speed and everyone sounds like they are strung out on heroin.

That seems like a fine practice schedule, and a good way to approach it.
