Nice Magnet-esque view, and still quite apparent what he’s doing even from the further away, front-facing shots. I have to wonder how aware he was of the technique, considering (from what little I know about him) he seemed to pay a good deal of attention to mechanics.

What exactly do you think his fretting pattern is here? I’d play this like 4 - 7 on A, 4 - 6 - 4 on D, 7 on A, repeat. But it looks like his index hovers around the 2nd fret to me. That would make the pattern much different and harder to pick though and doesn’t line up with what i see his pick doing. Just trying some scenarios where I’d do this like he is vs how I’d more naturally play it.
Hmmm, it looks like he’s playing it as you wrote, in fourth position - Adrian is more in second position for the chords. Fripp did use a weird tuning that was mostly 5ths, but I think that was a little later than this and he’s standard here.
If you watch the shot at around 2:36, it’s definitely fourth position.
Yep! I see it now. I hadn’t watched that far lol! I was just looking at the initial down the neck stuff and I guess depth perception made me think he was closer to the nut.
