Second day.... making sure I’m not already developing bad habits

This is around 80 bpm or 70% Troy speed. I’m already realizing my ha d synchronization is way off and pretty sloppy. I really want all the “OG’s” of shred if you will to see if my right hand is executing the downward pick slant correctly. It’s only my second day so don’t completely rip me to pieces  I’m not usually one to do this kinda thing but I really want to develop this and develop it right the first time. I can say I’m playing with no tension and I feel like that’s the biggest objective to all of this alternate stuff. Thanks for watching whoever does.

Can we have a clip with some string changes? If it feels good and can do what you need it to do then it’s probably fine.

Agreed!

One comment is that you seem very focused on having “a lot of downward pickslant”. If this position feels comfortable then no problem, otherwise you may be able to get good results with more “neutral” postures.

I’d recomment a read of these free pages to get up to speed with our current understanding of all the available options

I think I may be over compensating because I’ve always hybrid picked from a upward slant and downward feels very foreign and I also want to start using from the wrist and that was just kinda the natural way it felt good. Thank you for pointing these readings out I’ll be in there for sure to get really in depth!

I will absolutely do that later today. Probably a good idea since that’s the whole point of it lol

Here’s a normal speed

Here’s slo motion

Didn’t think too much about the technique just tried to play it and see what happened… still gotta tighten the synchronization up bad that’s goal one!

Just an observation: do you prefer your picking hand to have more open / straight or closed fingers? First clip was pretty much closed, but the last one was pretty open. I’m just curious if you’re cognizant of that change.

I feel like the straight fingers is a more natural (how I’ve always done it) the fingers in feels easier though . I hybrid pick like a disgusting amount so I’m always opening my hand back up even when I don’t notice it.

Also your YouTube videos are wicked awesome man I’m trying to get that level of speed/accuracy and fluidity.
