Slight tension in picking and only able to do single escape motion

I have a DSX form of picking, And I am only really alright at single escape stuff
In the video below I show off some of my 3nps economy picking. I also give a attempt at 3nps pure alternate picking. As you can see I’m a little sloppy, and Its probably from the small amount of tension I have while doing these things.

If someone could help me negate the tension and possibly even play 3nps fully picked; It would be greatly appreciated!

The next video is just some close up shots of my picking, and I play tremolo to really show the foundation of it.

Thanks for sharing, this is indeed DSX but your form is setup more like USX. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, your movements are also quite large. Personally speaking, I would change my pick grip (have a look at the minimal effort pick grip lesson in the pick slanting primer.

I would then go back to basics and focus on getting your tremolo faster (ideally on all strings) before muddying the waters with 3nps phrases, and economy picking. Roughly speaking, your tremolo is around the 140-150bpm range which is too slow to really invest a lot of time in without first refining it and getting it going faster right off the bat.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response; I’ll try that pick grip and give an update to this thread. Ill also try a lot of other movements and grips as well just to experiment
