Starting again (Sloppy playing)

I have a bunch of bad habits I need to kick to do with picking and legato, and I was wondering what to start with from the beginning to clean up my playing. I feel like once I have gotten rid of all my bad habits, it would help me practice more efficiently.
My main problems are hand sync at high speeds and legato notes not being the same length.

I was planning on starting with the Paul Gilbert first lick from the VHS that everyone knows, and very slowly build it up to speed with a metronome.

Is this a good way to relearn/clean up technique?

I don’t think anyone can give you any advice without seeing your playing. Can you upload any videos?

Well…

Now that we have your videos there’s apparently nothing wrong and if there was something that you consider sloppy, it’s not visible/audible in the videos.

If you have a problem you want to tackle, common understanding (don’t know if this is correct englich, sorry) around here is, that slowing way down won’t help you. Slow down just as much, that you can consciously tweak little things (pick grip, setup, motions) and try to tackle it at realistic speeds.

Still, my recommendation in your case would be to just go for it and play music, you already rock!
