Steve Morse Grip

So I started experimenting with the Steve Morse Grip on Sunday. It works.

Now the question is how do I incorporate the motion in my primary motions/grip.

2nps USX:

I seem to play USX 2nps with the Aldrich forearm rotation. i can play 2nps using a DSX as well which becomes more wrist based similar to a David Grier with a thumb side anchor.

3nps:

3nps seems to be more wrist motion. Just Wish I could figure out a way to keep the motion like this but also be able to mute because the Thumb Side anchor makes that impossible. So I’ve been working on the Al Di Meola/Andy Wood anchor point.

So the options are keep slaving away trying to figure out how to crosspick in my primary motions effectively or get really good at switching from Morse Grip to regular very quickly. Can’t really hybrid pick with the Morse grip or tap efficiently.

Yes! My first impression is that your results with 1-note-pre-string stuff are already better with this grip, compared to your previous attempts!

And for the last paragraph: I think it’s totally acceptable to have different grips for different tasks. Steve Morse himself is a great example of this.
