Suggestions wanted: keyboards/drums for toddlers

You know… given the prospect of 1+ months in the house!

PS: not looking for the full-scale full-kit versions of course, just a very rough approximation to those instruments

Hope everyone is safe and good luck to us all!

Pots and pans are good enough! Zero extra expense!

I’m not sure if you are fully aware of the consequences…

Months of sharing the house with a toddler tormenting a cheap drumset is not something I would be looking forward to. Get something with headphone connector at any price.

Have you got any outbuildings/a shed etc?

Nope, we’re in a flat with a tiny balcony!

Maybe an app on an iPad or equivalent to start.

Lots of cool iPad apps that could be a lot of fun here! Not sure about cheaper kid-friendly tablet, I see for example there’s a Kindle Fire “kids edition” one but no idea what apps it supports. I have to imagine there are plenty of basic drum pad / keyboard type apps though. But I do think tactile / non-digital could also be more fun particularly for very young kids.

Something like this compact electronic drum kit seems cool but maybe for older kids, not the most toddler friendly.

I actually like this Drumeo practice pad, which is pretty fun to play with, super compact, and (bonus for you!) not super noisy. This one’s fun b/c it has the four separate pads but I’m sure even a simpler version would be fun too.

Actually something super simple and cheap like this toy drum would probably be a lot of fun (I think I had a similar style metal one as a baby) but idk maybe too loud for mom & dad

For piano / keyboard, something like this flexible roll up keyboard looks pretty fun!

Moog and Korg have made their Model D and iKaossilator free. The iKaossilator would probably be more fun for toddlers as it’s very touch responsive. Model D is iOs only but the iKaossilator is android and iOS. Personally I had a blast with the Model D the other day and realized a Behringer Model D is probably a near future purchase for me.

Although I’m not an Apple-Fan, I I cannot recommend Androidbased VirtualInstruments.
I was looking for some virtual drum apps on android and the problem with android is a strong latency of the touch-driver. So drumming or similar stuff is nearly impossible on android devices. I don’t know about iPhones or iPads on the other hand.

Would do for a toddler, but any smartphone tablet would probably be broken within one week anyway. Don’t ask how I know…
