Swiping in metal

Hey everyone! I’ve been wondering if any fast rock/metal players really use swiping as a part of their technique or when it happens it’s mainly just a mistake? I know that some jazz/acoustic players like Strunz, Farah or Joscho Stephan use it all the time but how about electric guitar and more “shred” oriented players?

I would be surprised if you could find anyone that does not use swiping (at least occasionally)!
Personally I find it very useful as it allows me to play some passages about a million times more relaxed (like f$%& you string, I’m not even trying to avoid you  ). Also, interestingly enough I found that in my case the `click’ sound of the swiped string is more audible on clean electric or acoustic, as compared to distorted electric.

EDIT: here is a clip of Batio playing on acoustic. At the very start there is a `gratuitous’ shred moment where you can hear a few click sounds from the swiping. Still great playing though!
