Technique Critique (Picking and crossing strings)

Hi this is my first post here and was hoping I could get some assistance. I can tremelo pick at a max of about 175 but when I cross strings it’s another story. I recorded a video of me playing at 150 BPM tremelo picking then trying to move strings. It feels awkward and tense when I do this and mess up some. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

PS - I am naturally an upward pick slanter but trying to learn DWPS. ty

If your natural picking motion is escaping on the downstrokes, I’d give a try starting the tremolo lick where you are crossing strings with an upstroke.

thank you. I will give that a try. I am trying to better master both techniques that’s why I was trying DWPS or upward escape.
