If you’re not familiar, imagine Yngwie but funny. An over-the-top performer, Roy Clark was a multi-instrumentalist and TV personality that came to fame in the late 60s. His guitar playing wasn’t taken all that seriously at the time, mainly because of how much humor and comedy he infused into this performances. But if we watch him today and investigate his technique, we can plainly see his virtuosity and skill. A great talent that will be missed.

Roy was amazing! And certainly one the all-time greats, not just in technique but in terms of the ability to connect with a wide swath of people on multiple levels as a performer and entertainer. It’s tempting to call every great player who’s not currently super famous on the hip internet underrated, but when I was a kid Roy was a household name and for a lot of people probably still is.
