After playing for a few years (after relearning left handed) I have come to appreciate the importance of time in developing skills. Being over eager and impatient can drastically limit your skills and sense of achievement in learning new techniques. It seems that things unfold in the fullness of time with a reasonable amount of practice. There is a tendency to be impatient and want some thing for nothing these days. Without realising and appreciating the years of practice required to master a technique or instrument fully. I am as guilty as anyone else for this, but with this new sense of reassessing our lifestyles which is upon us, I think I have started to appreciate it more. Sometimes to move forward you have to step back a little.
I hope this makes sense.

Hugely important. This is an important topic in my view. A lot of the techniques discussed in this forum are very advanced. Look at the Pepsi lick discussed at the moment and go on youtube and see how many players can actually execute it at Vinnie Level. None? It can be done obviously - Troy does it. But you are not going to get that overnight. But that is part of the fun - the challenge! But you have to be patient as well.
