The King Of Rock 'n' Roll

I’m watching a Dio concert from their 1986 tour which had Craig Goldie on guitar. I saw Dio when they came to my area and it was an excellent show. I never saw a Dio concert that wasn’t great.

Anyway, I’d forgotten the song "King Of Rock 'n Roll even existed! It’s the first song of the concert I’m watching on DVD and it’s excellent! Don’t you love it when you re-discover a great song? Dio was one of my favorite bands of all time and RJD always hired great guitarists to play in Dio. Craig Goldie was certainly no exception. As far as I’m concerned, Ronnie James Dio was THE King Of Rock ‘n’ Roll!

Yeah that song rules. My band covered it at a gig and we never got around to playing it again for some reason.

Goldy’s got a new band that sounds pretty good:

Yeah I love that song, what a way to open up an album (it’s the first song on Sacred Heart). Very fast, heavy and melodic. One of Dio’s finest.

Have you guys heard Ronnie’s really early pop stuff from the 1960s? It’s weird hearing him singing love songs in a completely clean vocal style. Even back then his voice was very warm and distinctive.

His vocals with Elf are pretty good also.
