The Yngwie Malmsteen Strat

GAS ??? Please elaborate

Haha thanks. There are no returns with Reverb, so there no turning back, but that’s ok.

I recently sold my Ibanez premium, for a new Prestige with Fishman moderns

I sold my Charvel pro mod for the Charvel DK begal I’ve always wanted.

I needed a neoclassical European sportscar, and I just embraced the YJM.

I cant wait until it arrives

Nice playing there. The rhythm figure reminds me of bigfoot alot. I like the "erupting " picking passages your doing over it…

Really? Haha. GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I thought it was a ubiquitously known acronym among guitarists!

Never heard it before but I definitely have it!

We all do.

Though, aside, I’m getting a lot better. I’ve just run out of stuff to want, really. A good Tele and some sort of ES-335 or similar, and maybe a nicer acoustic, and that’s about it. I’ve got a killer recording signal path, and my “main” guitars are all spectacular, and I don’t like owning guitars that I don’t play regularly, or keep on hand for specific situations (like, I have a 6 string for recording rhythm parts, but even there… A couple years back I took advantage of a good deal a buddy offered me on one to switch from a PRS SE Singlecut to a PRS Singlecut for my “rhythm” guitar, and that thing just sounds thick as hell…). I’ve kinda run out of things that I really GAS after.

It’s bigfoot note for note
My fav riff on that EP. The rest is stolen from bach 874; didn’t do it deliberately but it just came out like that  Thanks for listening!

Whens the guitar arriving?

The latest version… going to keep doing it till it’s done

Guy is shipping from CA, tomorrow I’m in PA…

Hopefully midweek?

Nice! Yup, all the latest revisions on that.

Dude where’s the Yngwie underpants; the case should have leopard print underpants

That bridge is nice; I have one on my MIM. It’s so rusted n’ all now!

I think I’ll pass on those…

Fyi, I am going to get it setup with yngwie signature strings… I’m a little hesitant about the ,8 gauge high e, but given that it’s a custom set with a 46, and higher action it’ll probably be ok…

Just make sure you run a clean boost dimed between the amp and guitar.

I’v actually got a 308 DOD arriving sometime soon to try out my SL clone.

For now, I’ll use a boost pedal in my RP -1 processor, but that in the Amps loop

I had a 90s Japanese Yngwie strat and the high e was close to the edge that I would push it off at first but I did get used to it . I was silly getting rid of it as I loved it .

I just figured something; I found the high E slipping off while playing, this was after travelling.

Wasn’t sure whats up as I’ve been playing it for two years and it hadn’t bothered me since the first week.

Turns out the saddle had dropped height, raised it back up and the slippage went away!

High action is part of this guitar’s setup folks.

Hey man. Just had the guitar setup today…
Decided not to disconnect the neck tone control…

Also, the tech couldn’t get the action higher than 1.25mm with the Callaham bridge, the screws were literally outside of the holes…

My tech recommended a .5 shim towards the body end of the guitar to raise the action further

I might just sit with the guitar as is for now…

Dude under no circumstances will you put a shim in the neck; it’s a machine bolted to the body!

Just get after market hex screws; or Raw Vintage Saddles. Didn’t know they’re short, I’ll never by their stuff again.

edit: is your bridge floating? like can you pull on the arm to get a minor third up on the G string? when you bridge is floating as such you should be able to; Btw my saddles are almost sitting on top of the screws, I couldn’t go higher if I wanted.

I’ll take a picture and upload it.
