Tips for speed exercises?

Hi everyone,

So I experimented a lot and learned that my Primer is downward pickslanting with radial wrist movement.

The problem is that I’ve been doing it wrong for 30 years. So I constantly keep falling back into the old patterns.

Can you recommend me some exercises for speed and correct movement that I can do over and over again until I get it?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Hey @edco!

If you are unsure about your technique, our first suggestion is always to post a clip in technique critique. A simple tremolo on a single string is usually a good starting point!

No, I‘m pretty sure that is Upstroke Escape (Downward Pickslanting), I just need a few good exercises so that I can practice that movement daily.

No worries! If you already know your motions, then we usually suggest to try many different licks and riffs that use them. Basically the idea is to directly go and play the music that you like, and use that to build your “exercises”.

We also don’t recommend to spend too much time on each exercise at a time, maybe 5-10 minutes then move on to something else.

Also, we recommend to have at least some “fast and possibly sloppy” attempts at the licks in your practice, to make sure that you are indeed using efficient motions.

Hope that helps
