Tremolo picking technique

Hey guys I’ve been trying to develop proper tremolo technique picking with the wrist and not the whole forearm. I’m having trouble especially on the high E string. I, assuming because of the angle . Can anyone provide any suggestions on the best way to go about learning how to tremolo with just thr wrist? So far I’ve just been practicing the motion on one string and then ,going up and down. Thanks

How fast does your “improper” one go? And which escape is it out of curiosity?

Thanks for the reply. It’s been awhile since I measured the technique the way I used to do it. I was quick but not up to the speeds I was hoping for… I guess an example of where I want to get would be Dimebag in the end of the five minutes alone solo when he rips that bend on the high E and then tremolo picks it. My old way was quick enough to play most of the riffs I want to play but just not shredding speed.i also dealt with my arm and wrist getting tired. So far with just the wrist technique, I started out using downward pick slant but found myself naturally wanting to go neutral or even towards upwards pick slant. I just started this a few days ago so I’m hoping to get corrected before any new bad habits are engrained. My magnet is due any day in the mail so I’ll be able to provide some clips when I get it.
