Just curious, they sound pretty good. I’m presuming they aren’t the stock ones.
You’re in luck, we’ve got a video on this!
Quoting from what Troy wrote in the video description:
Updating a 1963 Musicmaster / Duo Sonic 22.5" scale partscaster with shielding, Seymour Duncan Little '59 humbuckers, and Planet Waves Auto-Trim tuners. The single coils actually sound great — just too noisy for our studio, and we prefer the humbucker sound for high-gain riffing.
Thanks! I’ve been a diehard humbucker guy, but am always intrigued when people get great tones from single coils.
They aren’t single coils, they are six (!) individual coils, one per string. Totally different design. You can check the Zexcoil site, but they have models that sound like a single coils and models that sound like humbuckers. I got the humbucker-y ones.
Yeah Zexcoil are wonderful pickups. I was recently shopping there and I’m thinking of going for the vintage/vintage hot 5 set. I love that individual coil sound, the humbuckers sound great too, so not easy to choose…
