I’ve been playing for about a year and started using the trailing edge to pick after someone mentioned slanting the pick in a youtube video to “slice through” the string and play faster. I used the trailing edge and never thought anything of it.
In the last couple of months I discovered that picking with the trailing edge is really unpleasant to look at and all of my favorite players pick using the leading edge (even if my playing is bad I at least want it to look nice). Because of this I decided to try and switch to the leading edge but it is giving me some trouble.
I’ve managed to build up a decent amount of picking speed over the last year and using the leading edge seems to cap that speed. The pick also feels strange when going over the string. It feels more like it’s slipping over the string instead of pushing through and gives off an audible scraping noise.
I was wondering if anyone else has made a similar change in their playing and can give some advice on how to switch. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

It works for some pretty baddass players. I started many years ago playing trailing edge and switched a couple of years in. Now it’s intriguing to me how it may affect performance of a given passage.
The change was not driven by tone consideration, rather, at the time I became concerned that my anchor point was not helping me.
