Two way pickslanting licks that don't sound like scales

I noticed most of the two-way pickslanting licks I come across are just people going up and down the scale. I was wondering if anyone here could give me examples where this is not the case.

Thanks in advance.

Similar to my suggestion on your palm muting question, watch the Andy Wood interviews. They’ve got tabbed examples. He does all sorts of incredibly musical licks and most of the require mixed escape.

I like this kind of thing you can do with spread triads + chromatics:

Fighissimo, grazie, Tommo!

You must hate me! All those ring/pinky alternations! I’d probably cheat and play it middle/pinky.

Awesome melodic riff though. It reminds me of one of my favorite Barrios pieces (which would be a beast to alt pick).

Yep actually it’s part of this piece that I wrote 3y ago, and the main riff is totally a Barrios ripoff

1 3 2 3 1 3 2 3 on both, no? It’s just a 3 fret span.
