Here’s a quick clip, incorporation costs of pick and fingers, legato and some sweep stuff along with my DBX. Messing around with a new pedal, but it was fun, thought I’d share the evolution. Please pardon the “chokes” lol I am still figuring it all out…

@WhammyStarScream Thanks for checking it out. Really, I am sort of just thinking out loud (musically) over a progression. I am starting to gain some fluidity with my vocabulary, but it will be a bit yet before it’s completely intuitive/instinctive. DSX, plus pick and fingers plus directional sweeping (upstroke) and hammer-on/pulloff. I can do some downstroke sweeping, but honestly - pick/fingers covers the ascending moves that the ready of the strategy does cover. Pretty much anything is possible, and I think it sounds passable! I been thinking about this for awhile, why do we do anything? For attention? For ourselves? If you weee alone, would you do anything? Would you practice guitar if you were the last person on earth?

I might strum a few chords,…… would I continue after that?
After no own is around to show off too, what would I do?

Regarding your “Hybrid DSX” technique, it already seems fluid enough to play interesting things. Like you, I also have a similar technique where I exclude all “outside” pickstrokes and use my fingers to do the work, plus I use a lot of swybryd. In my humble opinion, I think you can play practically anything with hybrid picking, from the most obvious things to shred stuff that we would normally try to use alternate picking for everything. One of my favorite licks is this one, and you can see that it’s all DSX:

Yeah that’s pretty much where I am at - it just seems to work! lol I don’t know if what I am doing is actual swybrid - extended “downstroke” sweep/economy isn’t great for me , but if I do it every now and then it’s tolerable I think!
I have done the work, and tried a lot of different things, but I think that this is where I will settle. It’s a strategy that is logical and umm improvable for lack of a better word - I can leverage previous victories if that makes sense lol I don’t know what to call what I do, I know it’s DSX for the most part, but I blend a bunch of other stuff as well so I guess it’s a bit of a hybrid!
