Thoughts on his picking technique? How it works etc… and does that tie into who he’s just so articulate?

I know he’s often described as an elbow player, but there is more going on with the wrist too.
I never really thought about whether using the elbow would allow for louder articulation before…

man the work involved in that is crazy i was going to attempt the paul gilbert intense rock beginning, but i threw in the towel quickly. 
one thing that i notice is most of the ultra fast shreddy musically descended stuff is legato or sweepy stuff. i was getting ready to see if i could spot some swiping going on, but was left disappointed.
