Paul says he played this lick a lot when he was a kid. the way he picks the phrase is down up up. wonder why he chose that way as a kid to do it that way i know why he is preaching it but when i was 12 playing that lick i wasn’t picking it that way and im on here looking for help with picking haha anyways prob in the wrong topic sorry if it is

Hey @shawnmichael2790, coming at this a bit late but… wow that double upstroke looks uncomfortable (and feels so as well!).
I’m pretty sure there’s no way to play two consecutive upstrokes efficiently and indeed it looks liked Paul’s speed is pretty limited on this one. He seems to suggest that it will indirectly help faster playing with other more efficient picking patterns but I am not sure 
…on the other hand, I know @Troy has filmed some crazy fast consecutive downtrokes from the likes of Joscho Stefan and Joe Stump… can the same be done with upstrokes?
