It just means the pick stroke is the same as what came before: in this case, down followed by another down.

Thanks! So the pick moves down slowly and then jumps up violently to reset for the next downstroke?
It’s a sweep from the B string to E (down down) and then that pull-off gives you a little extra time to return to the B (although if you have a USX motion you could do an upstroke in place of the pull-off). The resetting shouldn’t be too bad in any case.

Your idea about a reset during the P is wonderful, but then he should have an upstroke and not a downstroke? OH YOU ARE RIGHT!! (Downstroke is up the page!)
