What is my technique? Pickslanting, etc?

Hi All.

I don’t really know what to call my technique; I’m just learning all the unique phrases here like downward pick slanting, reverse dart throwing, etc.

I’m trying to relearn my technique, in order to be able to do the kinds of things that Anton Oparin does.

Currently, I unfortunately have an “intuitive blend” of both alternate picking and economy picking.

I just naturally economy pick when doing descending scales, but alternate picking when ascending.

Ughh…

But in order to formalize a new approach, I have to know what it is that I’m CURRENTLY doing.

So, here’s a video clip of me playing a descending scale pattern. (And then I briefly do an ascending run and pull offs…)

I THINK my playing LOOKS kind of like how Shawn lane holds his pick (maybe?)

Anyway, here’s a short video clip. Hopefully, there’s sound. If not, I’m sorry! I’m just learning how to create and upload clips!

To me it looks dsx down stroke escape. It looks like you’re doing dsx and then alternate picking.

So dsx sweep up, and alternate down?

Whatever it is wow very fast. Awesome.

Try a three note per string run across the strings, no licks or anything, just up n down. Doing a run or licks makes it confusing, just a straight up n down 3nps might make it clearer?

Also, are there “Sticky Posts” here for the different picking terminology?

Maybe it’s just the way my iPhone browser looks, but I can’t seem to find any Home Page which lists all the different subforums.

Do you have any recommended threads or posts to read to help me learn the different vocabulary used on the site?

UPDATE

I got my browser issue squared away; I can now navigate to all the areas of the website.

Now, time to work on getting my Magnet set up…
