Do you know any songs in which there is this progression?

My first instinct is to say that it’s an A harmonic minor progression because of that Am(Maj7) and almost all the notes in the extensions are diatonic. But E phrygian dominant is an option because to me it really wants to resolve to an E major chord. An E6 or an Esus2 sound really nice as resolutions.

I would write it as Am(Maj7) - G#m7b5 - C7 - B7#5. I like it, the progression has a bunch of nice sing-song resolutions.

I’m going with iv - iii - VI - V in phrygian dominant. The iii chord can be thought as substitute for the I chord. They both share two triad notes (B and G# in this one). If you swap the I back in it’s iv-I-VI-V.

Or we look at it diatonically in E major as being iv - iii - bVI - V with the iv and bVI borrowed from the parallel minor. Very common progression with some cool substitute chords to make it not so common :+1:
