What motion i'm doing on this video?

Hello, my dear guitarists friends!

I’ve always been a fan of Steve Morse, and I enjoy playing 3 nps.

Lately I’ve discovered myself as a DSX player, and for those strumming patterns I use Josh Meador’s technique (Pick-Pick-Hammer-On).

When trying to play 3 nps continuously, I noticed that my movement seems to change to something else (which I’m not yet aware of).

Could you tell me what it is?

In this video, I’m playing at about 10 nps, which is fast for me on odd scales.

PS: Sorry for the low quality. It’s a video sended by whatsapp.

I gonna upload a better video in some hours.

I suggest editing the URL by replacing “shorts” with “embed” so it is visible here.

Thanks for the tip, i will do.

Sure!

Also, to answer your question, your motion looks pretty DSX to me, with some subconscious bits of two-way pick slanting here and there which I think might not be necessary for the line you’re playing.

Kudos on referencing Joshua for technique. That guy’s sound is spotless and I think a lot of it has to do with his simplification of string changes with those convenient hammers and pull offs strategically placed. That’s how Yngwie plays descending runs too.
