What pick is this?

Hey CtC gang,

So lately I’ve gone through my large box of picks that I’ve collected over the last 25 years or so and I found one that I really like. Unfortunately the print has worn off, so I don’t know what brand and model it is, but maybe one of the pick sages who frequent this forum can help me identify it?

The shape is similar to the Ibanez Paul Gilbert signature pick (and other Ibanez picks), kind of a hybrid between a 351 (the top part) and a Jazz III (the tip). It has a slightly rounded edge and the gauge is around 1-1.2 mm. The material feels a bit like tortex, it’s definitely on the matte side, and not glossy like the Jazz III.

Here is a picture of the pick (the plain red one) next the Jazz III, Ibanez PG, and Dunlop Gator Grip:

If someone could point me to the exact make/model, it would really make my day!

I’m not sure of the exact make, but it strikes me as a Japanese pick - either Ibanez or ESP. That pick shapes are very common in the Japanese market.

I have no idea but if you find out please let me know would love to try!

A think @aliendough is onto something, perhaps

You can find picks from the last link on Amazon.

They look nice actually I might try. The first link is in Japanese so can’t read anything lol

Thanks to all of you, for your help and the pointers!

Now that you guys have mentioned it, I’m now pretty sure it is a Japanese pick and probably was a promotional goodie from one of the Tokyo music stores included with a purchase. I have a faint memory of owning a few picks with a “Fernandes” or “Shimokura” logo, and I think that pick might be one of them.

So I guess getting the exact same one will be tough, but the first link provided by @aliendough looks promising. After all, these promotional picks were probably produced in Japan by one of the big pick manufacturers there. If I continue to be crazy about this pick I might contact Shimokura…
