Wrist tremolo picking transition. Self taught player

Hey guys. For the longest before joining CTC, I had horrible picking form due to being a self taught player. My form for tremolo picking was erratic and sloppy. I always locked my wrist and just used my whole arm. Thanks to the CTC team, I have finally learned how to pick from the wrist using a trailing edge RDT form. I know it’s going to take awhile to make this second nature ans grow accustomed to it but I was wondering if anyone else recalls switching to wrist picking without previously being able to and if there’s any suggestions or clips I should check out from external sources to help me along. Right now I am prioritizing single string tremolo and just focusing on the picking hand and building up endurance on one string. Then I’ll go up and down all six strings doing the same thing. Any suggestions on what to look at or practice would be appreciated. The main issue at the moment is finding the sweet spot on one string and then being able to maintain it as I go up and down the rest of the strings. Thanks

My input for you is that, perhaps more important than anything else at this point…is that you monitor for any tension whatsoever and be vigilant to make sure that you are completely relaxed, with zero tension in your wrist, hand, shoulder, etc. I’m not convinced that one can master elite alternate picking when there is muscular tension…and bad posture involved.

Thanks for the input bro. Yeah you’re absolutely right. Those are the things I’m making a concerted effort to correct. The tension subconsciously builds as the bpms go up and I forget to breathe. Gotta stop and reset each time I catch myself doing it
