Trying to read this blog post and the first example video isn’t displaying - and instead we see the message: “Video unavailable. This video is private”. I checked and I am definitely logged in. Problem was replicated on my laptop and iPad using both Firefox and Chrome.
Can someone with access fix this please? Many thanks in advance!
I don’t even remember what that video is! However the best approach here is not to worry about “crosspicking” as a separate or specific technique. It’s a type of phrase that is played with DBX technique. I also wouldn’t start by trying to play those types of lines.
Instead, the Primer already includes basic setup instructions for establishing the core form and motion for DBX technique. You can find that in the reverse dart wrist motion section here:
Once you have the motion working on a single note, then do synchronized two-handed phrases on a single string to make sure fretting is working and hand sync is working. Once you have that, then you can test your motion on simple double phrases like ascending sixes. You want to verify the escape is happening and it’s correct, even if the notes are wrong.
When you’re ready, make a TC on the platform, we’re happy to help you with all of this!
I also couldn’t find this video before when trying to post it on here. I remember it tho. You laied the guitar sideways and got rid of gravity allowing a smoother back n forth picking motion. I wonderd Why I couldn’t find it.
Do you remember changing your mind at all on that concept?
However I think if you can already do the core motion on the string then there’s no need. So the sequence we have now is to get you up and running quickly with the basic form and trying to get a single note sounding good and feeling easy:
