Working on Aldeshir’s line

What do you guys think? To me it sounds a bit harsh, does it sound harsh to you guys? Be brutally honest!

Mostly pretty good! On the third attempt, you flip the picking part of the way through, which doesn’t fit your escape so the string changes are messy. But that’s more of an accidental mistake than inherent technique issue. That said, you need to speed it up to see just where technique issues might lie.

Unrelated: the smoke wafting in the video made me want a cigarette, and I haven’t had one in years! haha

Thanks! That makes sense. I’ve noticed that accidental picking flip myself, especially when changing strings. I’ll work on keeping the same DSX motion throughout the phrase and then gradually push the speed to see where the actual technique issues show up.

And haha, sorry about the cigarette temptation! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

should i stay at this speed or increase?

Increase. In a similar way that a horse has different gaits for different speeds, our picking motions change depending upon how fast we are going. Right now your speed is the equivalent of a trot, but we don’t want to work on trotting, right?

Troy has a whole video on this very subject, trading the horse analogy for Star Trek.
